This afternoon we have had our first Level Five lecture with Alex, a short 'welcome back' speech and a kick in the right direction for starting this important year. Straight away we were asked to write down which textile world we could see ourselves- I chose the embroidery/ mixed media option- this being because I have always been influenced by, and worked with embroidery, especially the embellishment side. I would love to be able to replicate some of the embellishment pieces that I see on say, Elie Saab/ Eline L.C Le Callennec's work, and this year I feel as though I will be able to have the chance to do this, using the industrial machines/ learning new techniques etc.
developing fluency. experiment. take risks. network.
Above is a list of the key points made during the lecture- ie the focus of our second year. Our first major project is 'Intentions', with three main points making up this unit; concept, process, context. Within this unit there are five projects options- something that we are allowed to choose for ourselves. Our task for the rest of this week is to research each of the projects, deciding which we would like to base our first unit in- taking into consideration which unit we feel will be able to show our specialist textile worlds the most appropriately. We shall discuss this further with our level five tutors on Monday.
